Economic Geology Profession a Century Ago
Brian Skinner and Larry Meinert discuss the nature of economic geology a century ago; Skinner notes that about 1920, companies start to hire economic geologists to conduct detailed studies of ore deposits, whereas earlier this work was largely undertaken by government survey geologists. This led to the creation of the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) in 1920.
