Qualifications
The Marsden Award was established in 1987 to be awarded annually, primarily for "outstanding service to the Society." Guidelines for qualifying for the award shall be based largely on the nominee's record of exceptional stewardship and contributions to Society Affairs. The recipient must be a person living at the time the nomination is forwarded by the Medals Committee to the Council for approval.
How to Nominate
To ensure consideration by the Medals Committee and the SEG Council, please use the "Award Nomination Form" printed
in the SEG Newsletter or the downloadable form, which is accessible below. If a form is not available, then please include
the following:
- Name of candidate.
- Address of candidate.
- A brief biographical summary (use format style in American Men and Women of Science, Who's Who in America, or similar biographical listing)
- A short summary of the contributions that qualify the candidate for the award (not more than 300 words).

for this prestigious honor. A nomination MUST BE SUPPORTED by signed letters from three SEG Fellows or Members. Supporting
letters may be attached to the nomination form or sent separately to the Awards Committee Chair. The deadline for receipt of
the nominations by the Committee is September 1 of the calendar year. Nominations and supporting letters should be sent to:
