Required health and safety measures

If you are attending in-person in Whistler, please review the health and safety measures outlined on this page.

If you travelling to Whistler from outside of Canada, be sure to check with your local airport and the Vancouver airport for current travel requirements prior to traveling. See below for information on arriving to Canada and the Vancouver airport (YVR):

The required health and safety measures to attend in-person at the SEG 100 Conference include:

Participants:

  1. Providing proof of vaccination of a Canadian government approved vaccine to access the Whistler Conference Centre, events, restaurants, and some services and businesses
  2. Wearing a face covering indoors at all times except when eating/drinking
  3. Following good hygiene practices, including washing hands frequently, using hand sanitizer and maintaining physical distancing when possible
  4. Respecting other people's space and comfort levels
  5. Helping SEG to ensure fellow participants are following the guidelines in place
  6. Agreeing to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath)

Participant notes:

  • Rapid COVID-19 tests will be available at the Registration Desk should you be feeling unwell. You will be asked to take an online self-assessment prior to receiving a test.
  • Contact SEG at seg100@seatoskymeetings.com if you experience symptoms of COVID-19 within 14 days after participating at the SEG 100 Conference.

Venue:

  1. Setting room capacity limits
  2. Holding seated social events
  3. Directing traffic flow throughout the exhibit hall and other areas of the building
  4. Implementing cleaning protocols throughout the event
  5. Providing hand sanitizer available at various points throughout the venue

Venue notes:

  • To aid with social distancing, session rooms are limited to 50% of capacity as per BC Government guidelines. Room capacity at 50% is within our expected attendance and no-one will be turned away from a session due to reduced capacity.

COVID-19 Safety Acknowledgment -- Liability Waiver and Release of Claims

Individuals who fall within any of the categories below can only participate in the SEG 100 Conference virtually, and not attend the in-person conference in Whistler. By registering for SEG 100, you certify that you do not fall into any of the following categories:

  • Individuals who currently or within the past fourteen (14) days have experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath among others;
  • Individuals who believe that they may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by local public health authorities or the health care team responsible for their treatment.
  • Individuals who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine or individuals who have only received one dose of a Canadian approved COVID-19 vaccine.

In addition to the above, SEG will follow the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) health rules and regulations that are in place at the time of the conference for in person gatherings, please check the BCCDC website regularly for updates.

SEG and its partners cannot guarantee that its participants, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.

Release and waiver

By registering for the SEG 100 Conference, I hereby release, waive and forever discharge any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature against the Society of Economic Geologists, SEG Canada Foundation, Sea to Sky Meeting and Association Management, and its suppliers, either in law or in equity, to the fullest extent permissible by law, including but not limited to damages or losses caused by the negligence, fault or conduct of any kind on the part of the released parties, including but not limited to death, bodily injury, illness, economic loss or out of pocket expenses, or loss or damage to property, which I, my heirs, assignees, next of kin and/or legally appointed or designated representatives, may have or which may hereinafter accrue on my behalf, which arise or may hereafter arise from my participation with the activity.

Assumption of the risk

I acknowledge and understand the following:

  • Participation includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including but not limited to COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness and death does exist;
  • I knowingly and freely assume all such risks related to illness and infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, even if arising from the negligence or fault of the Released Parties; and
  • I hereby knowingly assume the risk of injury, harm and loss associated with participating in the SEG 100 Conference, including any injury, harm and loss caused by the negligence, fault or conduct of any kind on the part of the Released Parties.
