Submit an Abstract

As of April 8, 2014, SEG is no longer accepting abstracts.

Abstracts for talks and posters are invited within the following six themes. Posters will be on display throughout the conference, with dedicated poster sessions planned. Students may request funding after they receive notification of acceptance (see Student Support, below). Submitters can indicate during the upload process whether their preference is to present orally, by poster, or if either is acceptable.

The Abstracts submission deadline has been extended to April 8, 2014. Please note that at the time of submission, presenters are asked to agree to copyright release and to acknowledge that they understand that, if accepted, the Presenting Author must register for the conference. The submission portal will not be available after April 8, 2014.

Posters

SEG 2014 Poster Presenters

Poster presenters initially are asked to submit a short Abstract (less than 500 words, containing no graphics, tables, or references). Notice of acceptance will be sent on or before May 15, 2014. Posters that are accepted must be saved as PDF files of less than 10 MB for publication in conference proceedings. These files can be uploaded beginning May 30, 2014, with a deadline of August 31, 2014. Authors are responsible for printing posters and bringing them to the conference for presentation. Display boards (size: 4' height x 8' width) will be provided.

Oral Presentations

Please submit a short Abstract (less than 500 words, containing no graphics, tables, or references). All notices of acceptance will be sent by e-mail on or before May 15, 2014. Slide presentations of talks are required in advance for publication in conference proceedings. These may be submitted as PowerPoint or PDF files (preferable as PDF files of less than 10 MB), beginning May 30, 2014, with a deadline of August 31, 2014. SEG recognizes that some changes may occur after the deadline and that the published record in those cases will differ from the final presentation version.

Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts should be no more than 500 words in length, not including the title, author names, or affiliations. The Abstract must be in English. The Abstract submission deadline is April 8, 2014. The submitting author will be notified by e-mail on or before May 15, 2014. The submission portal will not be available after April 8, 2014.

Submission of an Abstract acknowledges the author's consent to the following:

SEG 2014 Policies on Abstract Submission and Acceptance

Policy Statement: This policy is intended to support the broadest number of contributors to participate in the Conference program. Any contributor who is submitting an Abstract must be a member of the research/investigation/work team. Contributors are limited to presenting two Abstracts per person during the Conference program (including oral sessions and posters). Abstracts may be submitted by other contributors on the research/investigation/work team (that is, other than the principal investigator or presenting researcher).

There is no limit to the number of times that a researcher's name may appear as a member of a team of investigators on Abstracts submitted to the conference. In cases where a researcher is involved in more than two Abstracts or studies submitted for the Conference program, that researcher may be listed as the presenter only twice (oral session or poster). Exceptions to this policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis where in the opinion of the Conference Technical Committee, such an exception may enhance the Conference program and/or knowledge exchange. All decisions of the Conference Technical Committee are final.

Abstract Review Process

SEG 2014 Poster Presenters

All submitted Abstracts will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. Notification of Abstract acceptance or rejection will be sent by May 15, 2014. Only the corresponding author will receive mail concerning the Abstract and is responsible for informing all co-authors of the status of the Abstract.

Presenting Author Registration Information

Presenting Authors must register to attend the SEG 2014 Conference by August 1, 2014. If you are not registered by this deadline, the Abstract will not be included in the final program. This deadline coincides with early bird registration rates.

Student Support

SEG student members whose Abstracts are accepted are eligible to apply for financial support to attend the conference. Application for support can be made after notification of acceptance of the Abstract. Not all students whose Abstracts are accepted will receive support, and those who do are expected to allocate the funds as needed for travel and accommodations. Proof of studentship may be required, as well as a valid visa for the United States, if applicable. Financial assistance will be at the discretion of the SEG 2014 Organizing Committee and subject to available funds.
