Overview
During an individual's formative years within the economic geology discipline there are often reoccurring questions and issues that arise, ranging from how to best market yourself to exploration companies, to managing cyclical downturns within the industry. Similar for those with academic career tracks, the path forward is not always a clear one and may contain many opportunities and obstacles. This theme of successfully developing a career is a frequently discussed topic amongst student and early career professionals, and although there is no single path to success, understanding and having exposure to different career examples can broaden the perspective and assist young geoscientists to better appreciate existing possibilities.
This webinar will provide an interactive panel discussion between three early-career geoscientists who have each achieved early success within the field of economic geology in a relatively short period of time, allowing them to share their respective experiences and career journeys. A variety of diverse situations will be presented, including experiences within academia, navigating first steps within industry, and regional perspectives. The role of the SEG in the panelists' career development will also be highlighted.
The panel discussion is meant to be diverse, holistic, and interactive offering with participants, including a Q&A session that will be answered in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. This format will be a unique opportunity for both students and early career geologists to get some in-sight and advice on how to effectively develop their own career in economic geology.
