The student chapter SEG-SGA of UniLaSalle plans to visit different active mines in Switzerland and Austria in order to better understand the characteristics of these deposits and also network with professionals of the mining world in Europe.
15 places are going to be proposed for this field trip. 8 of them are reserved for 4th year students (MSc of Earth sciences) specialized in Mines and Quarries. Among this student, 6 of them are members of the SEG association and take part in the SEG student chapter of the University. The other have already taken part in activities organized by the student chapter (conferences, plant visit, ...). 4 places are open for undergraduate students who show an interest for the Mines and Quarries specialization and who would like to take part in the adventure and discover various mining sites. Finally, 3 places are intended for professional geologists who are soon to be asked if they wish to join us or not.
We'll leave Beauvais (North of France) by car to go first in Switzerland. There, we will visit the salt mines of Bex and also asphalt mines of Presta. After that we’ll leave for Austria.
In Austria we would like to discover the famous silver Mines of Schwaz and Mittersill mine as well near Salzburg (Scheelite deposit). After those amazing experiences we would head back home to Beauvais.
All the visits will be done in English.
