This Geological Society of America pre-meeting SEG short course will be presented by a number of leaders in the field of environmental geochemistry who will cover current techniques related to modern mining. This 2-day course by Jeremy Richards covers controls on Cu-Mo-Au mineralization in porphyry systems and Au mineralization in epithermal systems, both across a range of scales from vein to plate. The key themes include arc magmatism, arc tectonics and magma emplacement, upper crustal magmatic processes, porphyry-forming processes, and epithermal and post-subduction deposits.
