Ronald E. Seavoy Student Field Trip Program

The SEG Foundation supports SEG-organized field trips to globally significant mining districts by providing funding to subsidize student participation. While acceptance is competitive, eligible students are highly encouraged apply, as the Society strives for broad geographic representation on these impactful trips.

Field trips are organized and led by SEG members with appropriate and recognized expertise in the geology of the mining districts included in the trips, and who are senior in their career. Arrangements are made with the individual mines being visited for safe and comprehensive access, and to assure availability of mine geology and mining personnel to interact with participants. These trips are very popular and are consistently oversubscribed. All SEG Student Members are notified of upcoming field trips and application deadlines via email.
