Important Visa Information
Please be aware of recent changes in Namibian Government and Home Affairs regulations:
A Business/Short Term Employment Permit is now mandatory for exhibitors, oral speakers, field trip and workshop leaders attending SEG 2024. Poster and speed talk presenters are exempt from this requirement.
If you are delivering a poster, speed talk, participating in a panel, or simply attending the conference, and your country has a reciprocal visa arrangement with Namibia, you may obtain a visa/stamp upon arrival.
To streamline this process, SEG has coordinated with the Geoscience Council of Namibia and Namibian Home Affairs. All registrants should receive a letter of invitation from the Geoscience Council of Namibia by Monday, September 9. If you have not received one, please email secretary@geocouncil.org.na. You must bring a hard copy when traveling.

Visa Requirements
All visitors to Namibia must have a passport that is valid for at least six months after the date of entry and have sufficient pages for entry and exit stamps (at least three blank pages for the entry and exit stamps). All visitors must also have a valid return ticket. In addition, all visitors must have a visa, except those nationalities with which Namibia has the necessary visa exemption agreement. Communication
Namibia is part of the Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication mobile network. Travelers can expect access to the GSM network in all towns and on most portions of the national highway. International roaming agreements are in place with 146 countries through 334 network partners. Please confirm that your mobile provider is compatible in Namibia.
Pre-paid SIM cards can easily be purchased at the airport and many local stores across Namibia. MTC and TN Mobile are the two largest providers in the country. Satellite phones are recommended for travel to remote areas.
