The first installment in the 2022 Exploration and Technology Webinar Series will focus on the fundamentals of geologic modeling and how exploration geologists can best leverage various software programs to make meaningful interpretations from geologic data sets. Understanding key concepts is vital for building a successful foundation in modeling. This webinar will discuss factors such as proper data selection and preparatory processes, QA/QC practices and data validation, and the importance of ore deposit geometries in modeling.
The webinar was developed with students and early career professionals in mind, and the discussions will walk attendees through the geological modeling process at a high level, offering mini lectures on important themes and showcasing different geometries of deposits and how to approach modeling methods for each. Panelists will explore how results are used in real world situations and discuss some of the ethical challenges that arise in this process.
The motivation of this series and webinar is to provide the space for attendees to connect concepts learned in the classroom to the practical application and use of technology to solve real-world challenges. The panelists have been chosen for their expertise and their diverse range of personal and professional experiences that they each bring to the discussion.
